TEST NAME: COLOR FASTNESS TO RUBBING
METHOD: ISO 105 X12-2002



Suitable testing device with separate finger (104 ± 3 mm track, 16 ± 0.1 mm finger dia & 9 ±0.2 N force), cotton rubbing cloth (50 ±2mm), distilled water, weighting balance, gray scale (A03) Etc.



Receiving the sample from bulk/R&D with required information
Cut 04 specimen for dry/wet rubbing & size of not less than 50mm X 140mm (Length & width)
Condition the specimen & rubbing cloth atleast 04 hours with ISO 139
(20±2°C Temp & 65±2% humidity)
Place the specimen with clamp in the machine track (104 ± 3mm) & set download force (9 ± 0.2 N)
Set the rubbing cloth with finger ring (16 ± 0.1mm diameter) & rub 20 times in the streght line for 1 second/cycle (To & Fro)

Write a short notes with referance no, wales/course indicator, Dry/wet rubbing etc.
Soak out a rubbing cloth in distilled water (65 ±5%) & confirm 95-100% wet pickup by weighting scale
Technical establish for rubbing cloth weighting, sample preparation & conduct process
After test, rubbing cloth dry at room temp by air/naturally
Make a varification record routinely & results kept in log book (conduct 03 dry test)
Use stopwatch & others suportive device in required stage for accuracy
Remove extra dust & assess the staining of rubbing cloth as per gray scale A03 under suitable illumination (3 Layer) also use spectrophotometer & assessment musk

Make a test report in mentioning method, used finger & force, dry/wet percentage of soak, conditioning & specimen details, numerical rating of each specimen Etc.
