TEST NAME: FABRIC SURFACE FUZZING & PILLING (ICI BOX)
METHOD: ISO 12945-1 :2000
Box pilling tester (3.2), polyurethane specimen tube (140mm), mounting jig, self adhesive tape (19mm), plain sewing machine, viewing cabinet, rating photo standard, measurement scale etc.
Receiving the sample from bulk/R&D with required information

Precondition & confirm conditioning/testing atmosphere-atleast 16 hours with ISO 139
(20±2°C Temp & 65±2% humidity)

Cut 04 specimen (length/width) size of 125mm X 125mm & 01 for assesment (Non wash/wash)
↓
Mark each specimen on back in length /width direction
↓
Specimen size reconfirm by measurement scale
↓
sew the cut edges of specimen (12mm) & turn inside out (if need cut 6mm to avoid distortion)
↓
Set with mounting jig & use self adhesive tape (not exeeding 1.5 times within 6mm)
↓
Check equipment & clean test box also place all of 04 specimen into the pill box
↓
Select the program & start the machine for 7200/14400/18000 rev or 2/4/5 hours with 60 rpm
↓
Afer end the program, remove the tube from pill box & specimen from tube (stitching out)
↓
Place into the viewing cabinet very carefully
↓
Technique establish for proper sampling, machine fitting & testing
↓
Evaluate each specimen with pilling rating standard & confirm avg. result within 0.5 grade
↓
Make a test report in mentioning method, machine type, sample description, testing & evaluation procedure, remarks ets.
ICI Pilling Tester / Pilling Box. To rapidly replicate pilling on fabrics in a fraction of the time due to normal wear. ICI pilling tester uses a universal drive system with 2 or 4 positions. The machine accepts ICI Pilling boxes and ICI pilling drums.
